All our non uk products are sourced from fairtrade importers. We source products from organisations that skill-train and support individuals in Napal, Indonesia and India. All other products are sourced from local artisans, crafters and makers. We support many causes by buying from fairtrade. Some of these help rebuild skills, so that women can become independent after surviving disasters or abuse. It can be the only place for women to start a new life in such countries where women are cast lower.
We are environmentally friendly and reuse packaging received from our deliveries. Some of our products are produced from recycled materials, up-cycling and foraging from nature. For example some of our driftwood products are sourced from local Redcar beach and our pencil earrings are saved chipping from factory seconds. We source locally to reduce our global footprint and keep cost down so that we can bring something fresh, new, handmade & affordable to our high streets. Fairtrade needn’t be expensive and produces beautiful quality crafts for all to enjoy.
The Indonesian producers have a tree-planting scheme to replenish stocks of all Albesia wood used in its handicrafts. This is also part of the organisation`s efforts to promote reforestation to protect the livelihoods of indigenous people and to ensure they don`t become landless.
